Positions Available
Please find the job vacancies below – if there are none showing, please do get in touch. We always want to meet great people.
Registered Veterinary Nurse (Perm, Full Time)
The Finchley Vet, High Road, North Finchley Salary £30000-32000 p.a. – (pro-rated)
10am-5:30pm Mon-Fri and 1:3 Sat mornings (9am-1:30pm)
Having read through some other job adverts, we are sad to report we have:
- NO amazingly beautiful rolling countryside to walk your dog in
- NO exciting out of hours cases (we don’t do out of hours)
- NO cake (well occasionally – but only if one of us can be arsed to make it!)
BUT – what we do have is the ability to treat each other with respect. We have a great team, we support one another and we tend to get rid of clients who can’t behave themselves in a civilised manner. We are rapidly growing first opinion (small animal) practice which means that we are always pushing to do things better for our patients, clients and staff and we are looking for someone who would like to join us and help us to do things even better.
We expect that you will be an RVN and although vast experience is certainly not a pre-requisite, you must be happy to learn, develop and grow. We are a shining example of how to do customer service right and although we can always be better, we think we are rather good at it. You must be on board with that. That sometimes means things like putting on a happy face for new clients when things are going crazy or carving out a minute or two to let a client know that their cat is ok after his castration, even when your to do list is far from finished.
We hire top quality staff and then give them the tools to do a top-quality job. We don’t like to cut corners and that means that this job isn’t going to suit everyone.
This full-time role would be a 40 hour week and there is a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota.
Benefits:
- 6 weeks holiday (including bank holidays)
- Birthday Leave – an additional day of holiday on or close to your birthday
- Private Medical Insurance Scheme – providing help to pay for private medical bills – amongst other related benefits – this is organised by the Practice and we will pay up to £50 per month towards premiums
- Gym membership/Exercise classes paid for (upto £20 per month) OR £150 every year towards personal sports equipment.
- Enhanced Maternity/Paternity/Adoption pay
- VDS and RCVS membership fees covered in full (paid on your behalf so you don’t need to pay first and claim back later!)
- In house training and lunch and learns provided by external speakers
- £500 per annum and 1 paid CPD day towards any external training courses or talks that you want to attend
- Team Performance Bonus Scheme
- Staff Discount
- Company Pension Scheme
BTW – we try our hardest to ensure that all our colleagues only stay late for emergencies (and even then it is rare) and when they do so – they are paid in full for the time.
We would love to talk to you about the job and any of our team would be more than happy to give you the dirt on what working at the Finchley Vet is really like – if you would like a chat with me or any of the team, give me (Oli) a call on 0203 603 4441 or email me at oli@thefinchleyvet.co.uk. Or forego the chitter chatter and send us your CV – whichever works for you. Either way, check out this rather cringeworthy video of me giving a tour of the practice when we opened 5 years ago – it gives you a little idea of what we are about.
Client Care Team Member (Permanent, Full Time)
The Finchley Vet, High Road, North Finchley Salary c. £23000-27000pa (depending upon experience) + benefits (including gym membership and private medical insurance payments)
Benefits:
- 5.6 weeks holiday (including bank holidays)
- Birthday Leave – an additional day of holiday on or close to your birthday
- Private Medical Insurance Scheme – providing help to pay for private medical bills – amongst other related benefits – this is organised by the Practice and we will pay up to £50 per month towards premiums
- Gym membership/Exercise classes paid for (upto £20 per month) OR £150 every year towards personal sports equipment.
- Enhanced Maternity/Paternity/Adoption pay

We help animals – but their people need to be looked after too. We are looking for someone who would love to do both. Someone who loves to give great service and would thrive in an environment where making our human clients surprised and delighted with our amazing service and care means that they choose us to help make their pets healthier and happier.
Organisation is key. Day to day you will be welcoming clients into the practice, fielding requests for everything from cat food to surgery bookings and lots more in between. You will also have responsibilities regarding office management, assisting the Client Care Team Manager to ensure that non-medical stock is kept organised and ordered and ensuring the non-clinical areas are kept in order.
But of course, what we can give you is even more important than what you can give us – we will give you full training, send you on courses where necessary, support your learning and do everything we can to get you up to speed. As one big practice team, we work closely together and no one is left unsupported. You will report to the Client Care Team Manager, who you will work closely with to deliver the amazing service that our clients know us for.
You are likely to have robust customer service experience (1 year or more in a busy retail or service environment). However, experience of working in a vet practice is not required. We are a young business and are constantly pushing the envelope of what we can achieve and how we can achieve it. We will learn from you and you will learn from us – that’s how we think a good, fulfilling and meaningful working relationship should be. You will also need good computer literacy as we work with various IT systems.
Your working week will be approximately 42 hours (but we can be a bit flexible on this) working 4 days during the week (with one full weekday off) and every 3rd Saturday morning. Our team works 8:30am-7:30pm weekdays and 9am-1:30am Saturday – but you would not be expected to work all these hours as we use shifts to cover them as a team.
We could tell you how friendly we are and how supportive we are. We could tell you all about the wonderful new expansion and new staff area, shower and big kitchen that we have just built for all of the staff to use, but we would rather show you!
So please get in touch by sending any questions, or just your CV and a brief cover letter to marina@thefinchleyvet.co.uk
Head Vet Surgeon/Clinical Director (Full Time)
The Finchley Vet, High Road, North Finchley Salary up to £90k per annum (depending upon experience)
Looking for a corporate gig? This isn’t it.
We’re an independent, fast-growing 3-vet small animal practice (soon to be two sites), led by me, Oli—a practicing vet, not a suit. Joining us means shaping the future of our practice as we expand.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…we are not the perfect vet practice!!
That might be a funny thing to put in a job advert – but I want you to know that we are honest about our flaws. In fact, we are honest about everything. That’s how we create a culture and working environment where people feel supported and heard.
Where clients feel listened to and that their concerns are addressed in a competent and compassionate way. Our mission is simple: provide the best customer service of any UK vet practice, and we know that if we look after our team, they look after our clients.
Do we get it right all of the time?…No!
Do we aspire to be better every day?… Absolutely Yes!
About the Role:
We’re searching for a Head Vet/Clinical Director to inspire and lead a team of four vets. Here’s what you’ll do:
- Mentor, support, and train the team.
- Make key decisions that keep us thriving and respected.
- Work closely with management to create a collaborative environment.
- Oversee vet recruitment, from reviewing CVs to hiring the right fit.
- Balance leadership with hands-on clinical work.
Proposed Schedule:
Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri: 8:30–19:30
Saturday (1:3): 9:00–13:30
Early Monday finishes (from 4 pm, assuming the coast is clear – which it often is), and then remote admin time to make up the hours is part of the package.
We pay for all of the hours of your shift – including your lunch breaks – but that doesn’t mean we expect you to work over lunch – in fact, we are militant about protecting lunch breaks for all of our team.
You’ll mostly work at our Finchley site, with one day a week at our soon-to-be-announced second location, just 20 minutes away. Our recently revamped main practice includes a spacious kitchen, steam room, and a shower—for those who cycle, gym or need to freshen up.
About you:
You will have a passion for leadership and mentorship, wanting to get the best out of your team.
You will be an experienced small animal vet (likely 5-8 years of small animal experience at least), although a further clinical qualification (e.g. a Cert) is an advantage, it is not a requirement.
Perks & Benefits:
- 6.77 weeks holiday (including bank holidays).
- Birthday leave (on or close to your birthday) —because your day should be yours.
- Private medical insurance (up to £50/month).
- Fitness allowance (up to £20/month for memberships or £150/year for gear).
- Enhanced parental leave.
- In-house training and external lunch-and-learns.
- 2 CPD days/year with £1,500 allowance (more if it benefits our service provision).
- Team bonus scheme—not individual bonuses – because we work together, then we succeed together.
- Staff discounts, including free consultations.
Sound good? Email me at oli@thefinchleyvet.co.uk with questions or your CV.
Let’s chat, and I’ll happily show you around.
